    DJ Applebad is a pseudonym for Rolo McGinty, known internationally for his work as singer/writer for the Woodentops. He has had hits in various guises as an artist, and as a producer and remixer for artists such as Boy George and Farley Jackmaster Funk. His film and TV work includes Channel 4's "Pandora's Box" and the theme for "Swank". Music for "Silent Tongues", a film of a spiritual journey by artist Panni Bharti preceded a long stint as a house writer for Boosey Media, No Boyfriend Music, Mentorn TV, and advertising soundtracks for Sky Digital.

  • James Asher

    James is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer, focusing on world music, trance music and new age music. In 1979 he opened his own studio, Starfield, and released his first single "Peppermint Lump" which was produced by Pete Townshend. He also played drums on Townshend's album Empty Glass. In 1988 James released his first album The Great Wheel which reached number 13 on Billboard's New Age Music Chart. He has since released numerous albums including Feet In The Soil, Tigers of the Raj, Colours of Trance, Raising The Rhythms, Globalarium and Drums On Fire. He has also worked with Dave Gilmore, Hossam Ramzy, Sandeep Raval, Sivamani, Rahul Raj, and been sampled by the Chemical Brothers and U.N.K.L.E!

    George is a singer, composer and multi instrumentalist (bass, guitar, piano, trumpet and Chapman stick). He is songwriter, bass player and vocalist in Jonas 3 and Storm Engine.   • Simon Benson

    Simon is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and a former member of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and rock band "Gentle Touch" (chart success with "Dream of You"), leaving both in the early 90's to pursue a career as a composer and freelance Double Bass player. He has composed especially for innumerable TV and radio productions and commercials, and with over 600 production music tracks, Simon's music has been featured in thousands of well known productions worldwide.
    As a performer he has played live and in the studio with a vast array of artists, ranging from Pavarotti to Streisand, Paul McCartney to Robbie Williams, as well as on countless TV and international movie soundtracks.

  • Jane Best

    Jane began her career singing with the London Orpheus Choir. She attained a postgraduate diploma from the prestigious jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music, and a masters degree in orchestration for film and TV at the London College of Music and Media. She has written and performed her own music with musicians such as pianist Liam Noble and saxophonist Martin Hathaway.

    Initially signed to Bucks Music/Standard Music, she released various CDs of pop songs and library music. She has composed an orchestral piece for the BBC Concert Orchestra. Most recently Jane has worked with producer Pascal Gabriel (Dido, Kylie, Ladyhawke) and written string arrangements for various artists including Sophie Ellis Bextor



  • Kuljit Bhamra

    Kuljit Bhamra M.B.E.

    Kuljit is a virtuoso tabla player, composer and record producer. He was a pioneer of the British Bhangra sound in the early 1980s. His MBE was awarded in the Queen's Birthday Honour's List 2009 for services to Bhangra and Asian Music. Kuljit has performed with Ringo Starr, Enrique Inglesias, Shakira, Sarah Brightman, Sugababes, and produced numerous Asian artists as well as his own albums. His composition credits include Bhaji On The Beach, Bend It Like Beckham, The Far Pavilions, The Ramayana, The Twelfth Night, and percussion arrangements for Bombay Dreams.   • Russell Callow

    Russell is a performance artist living and performing in England and Germany. For several years he ran the monthly "All Over The Shop" gigs at The Foundry in Shoreditch. His occasional UK gigs are eagerly attended by those in the know. Some of the compositions on MUM are 'live' performances. He is currently exploring new areas in sound art with visual artists and animators.



  • Clive Carroll

    Clive studied composition and guitar at Trinity College London. Soon after graduation he played at a gig with John Renbourn and, after recording his first album 'Sixth Sense', Clive spent the next two years on tour with John in Europe and the United States. His next solo album, 'The Red Guitar' appeared in 2004 and this time it was Tommy Emmanuel who invited Clive to tour with him. In 2005 he again worked with John Renbourn on the film 'Driving Lessons' starring Julie Waters and Rupert Grint. He tutors at the Irish World Music Centre in Limerick, has played at events organised by film director Guy Ritchie and Michelin award-winning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and at the Strings Of Freedom concert for the Sultanate of Oman. His third solo album is called 'Life In Colour'



  • Paul Clarvis

    Paul Clarvis can be heard on recordings by John Williams, Victoria Mullova, Mick Jagger, Karl Jenkins, Richard Thompson, Moondog, John Adams, Elton John, McFly, Paul McCartney, John Harle, Sting, Harrison Birtwhistle, Annie Lennox, Hugh Masekela, Underworld and his own band Orquestra Mahatma. As one of the most requested session musicians, he has played on hundreds of films including Star Wars, Thunderbirds, The Passion, Troy, Lord Of The Rings, The Bourne Ultimatum, Madagascar, The Dark Knight, Twilight 1, 2 and 3, Burn After Reading, The Fantastic Mister Fox, James Bond, Billy Elliott, Notting Hill, all 7 Harry Potter films, Chronicles of Narnia, and many, many others.   • Dermot Crehan

    Dermot studied classical violin under Jaroslav Vanecek at the Royal College of Music. He formally worked as a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia and the London Philharmonic Orchestra and now enjoys a very successful freelance career. His extensive experience in the fields of orchestral and operatic music, combined with his experience of commercial and Irish folk and other diverse ethnic cultures, places him in a unique position amongst London's elite professional musicians. Dermot is renowned for his work as a folk fiddler, appearing on numerous film sound tracks and television scores, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Patriot Games, Harry Potter, Legends of the Fall, Mrs Brown, Charlotte Gray. He appears on recordings with Miriam Stockley, Carl Jenkins, Elton John, Bliss, Sting, Westlife, Il Divo and Ronan Keating.



  • Luke Daniels

    Luke is a composer and multi-instrumentalist working with folk and traditional music from England, Scotland and Ireland. He is a virtuoso button accordionist. Since winning the BBC Young Tradition Award in 1992 he has worked with the Riverdance Show, De Dannan, The London Philharmonic Orchestra, The English National Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Glenveagh National Park and The Centre for Irish World Music and Dance at University Limerick. His educational projects for young people are run through his charity Gael Music and supported by Arts Council England, Youth Music and The Performing Rights Society Foundation. Solo projects include Histories Rhyme, Lost Music of the Gaels and Islands with performances at the Royal Festival Hall, the London Jazz festival, on BBC Belfast's Blackstaff sessions and Radio 3's In Tune programme.



  • Brian Dee

    The highly acclaimed British jazz pianist first came to prominence in 1960 playing opposite Miles Davis on his nationwide UK Tour. Brian was voted Melody Maker's "New Star Of The Year" for 1960. Brian has played with many of the great names in jazz, including Ben Webster, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Benny Carter, Harry Sweets Edison, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Chet Baker and Sonny Stitt.

    From the late 60's onwards, Brian was in demand as a session musician, working on some of Elton John's seminal recordings amongst thousands of others. Renowned as a fine accompanist to singers, he has recorded or appeared alongside Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mercer and Peggy Lee.

    Barnaby is co-leader of the 6 piece band The London Horns, and is one of the most in-demand freelance musicians on the scene.     The guitarist's guitarist, Steve Donnelly is one of the great stylists of today on his instrument. Known for his eclectic styles on acoustic and electric, he has brought magic to recordings of many artists such as Sheryl Crow, Suzanne Vega, Elvis Costello, Mick Jagger, Tasmin Archer, Mitchell Froom, Nick Lowe, Katie Melua and Bonnie Raitt.   • Simon Eyre

    Simon Eyre has been a professional guitarist for over 20 years. He has written and co-written for numerous pop acts including Jennifer Ellison, D Side, Blazing Squad, Damage, The Honeys, Nick Lachey and a top five hit for Friday Hill. He has composed graded exam pieces for the Rockschool course and played guitar on albums by The Style Council, Lighthouse Family and Robert Palmer.   • Andy Findon

    Andy is Europe's most recorded flautist, having appeared on countless albums, film and TV scores. He has been involved in just about every genre of performance from serious orchestral work to rock bands and the world of London's West End theatre. As well as his enviable reputation as a master performer on the flute, he has been Michael Nyman's baritone saxophonist since 1980, and has transcribed and recorded Michael's "Yamamoto Perpetuo", a 37 minute solo flute work.   • John Gallen

    John has spent over 25 years in the music industry and has enjoyed success in many areas. He worked as an engineer at London's Roundhouse Recording Studios, and then free-lance, mixing and producing for artists including Queen, Simply Red, George Benson, Go West, Maxi Priest, Aswad, Rick Astley, Boy George, Osibisa, Billy Ocean, Motorhead, Kuljit Bamra, and The Damned to name a few. He discovered and managed singer-songwriter Beverley Craven who sold over 2 million copies of her debut album. In 1999 John recorded and broadcast the Beijing Symphony Orchestra and State Opera in Tiananmen Square, Beijing. John lectures to degree level in music technology at Canterbury College and The Academy of Contemporary Music.

    Geoff was a member of Everything But The Girl for 3 years, and has played with US3, Jim Mullen, Ian Shaw, Georgie Fame, Van Morrison, Guy Barker and Bill Bruford's 'Earthworks'. Since 2002 he has worked extensively with Jamie Cullum, recording 3 albums and touring the world many times. He has recorded six solo albums including the highly acclaimed "Voices of Spring", as well as albums with, James McMillan, Ed Jones Quintet, Guy Barker, Moses Molelekwa, Mike Flowers Pops, Ian Shaw, the opera singer Sally Burgess, and Georgie Fame Live at Ronnie Scotts. Geoff has also arranged music for albums by Trudy Kerr, Georgie Fame, Ian Shaw and Cedar Walton.



  • Adam Goldsmith

    “Started playing classical piano at age 7, was a bit rubbish at that, so started guitar at 12, was a bit better so kept at it.” A few people he’s been lucky enough to record/tour/play with include Elton John, Brian May, Anastasia, Ronan Keating, Will Young, Beverley Knight, Cliff Richard, Meatloaf, Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, Charlene Spitteri, Russell Watson, Mick Hucknall, George Benson and Shirley Bassey.     TV presenter, Song For Europe contender, composer, backing singer and mum. Kim has written songs for such luminaries as Joe Walsh and Ringo Starr. She is now co-owner of The Voice and Music Company in London, writing and producing commercial jingles and TV themes.

  • Paul Honey

    Paul has enjoyed a highly varied career, working as a composer, arranger, performer, musical director and producer. He started his musical life as a chorister, singing daily in the choir of Westminster Abbey. After leaving university, he worked extensively in Jazz and World Music, performing and broadcasting around the world. As a composer, he has written for commercials (AEG, The AA, Barnado's), television (Brum and the BAFTA-nominated Boohbah) and independent film. In 2007 he formed a creative partnership with the violinist Dermot Crehan. The result was a collection of traditional Irish tunes and new compositions for Soloists and Orchestra, and the album 'Toss The Feathers' in 2009. At present Paul is working on a commission for violin and choir with the poet Gregory Warren Wilson.



  • Sally Howard

    Trained as an actor at LAMDA in London, Sally has written and produced several stage shows and musicals. She has performed as Sally Bowles in the hit musical Cabaret. She has also written lyrics for songs including the themes to Yorkshire Television's "Rich Tea And Sympathy" and "A Bit Of A Do" which was performed by George Melly.



  • David C. Hëwitt

    Composer David C. Hëwitt studied in London and America earning a BA Hons in Music & Theology. He began playing the piano at six years old and it was from this young age that he became profoundly influenced by the composer Alberto Ginastera and the arranger Isao Tomita. He has written scores for TV, documentaries, albums and videos, and the theatre.



  • No I.D.

    No I.D. is a young up and coming DJ and drummer. He has played with several of the bands, and at many of the clubs, on the Brighton music scene. He creates his own take on current dance music and is becoming one of our most prolific composers.



  • Greg Knowles

    Greg studied drums and percussion formally at the RNCM with Gilbert Webster. He then worked with Peter Maxwell Davies, the Ronnie Scott organization, and had his own recording deal with Chrysalis Records and Simon Cowell. He has also played with Nigel Kennedy, Madonna, Freddy Mercury, and on the soundtracks for "Lord of the Rings", "The Golden Compass", and "Ravenous" with Damon Albarn. Greg has been writing library music for 20 years for KPM, Music House, Cavendish and now Made Up Music.



  • Paul Lawler

    Paul began his musical career as an award winning soloist and session brass player freelancing with the 'The Halle Orchestra' and 'BBC Radio'. As a composer he has worked for all of the major broadcasters including BBC, ITV, CH4, CH5, Discovery Channel, Sky, CBS, PBS. Paul has written over 600 production music tracks for major library music companies and his music has been heard on thousands of television/radio shows and commercials around the world. You can also hear Paul's music on several major Computer Games such as "Spyro: A Hero's Tail" and "Disney Think Fast". Paul has released over 16 albums in the World/New Age and Electronic genres.

    Paolo Maddaloni is a busy jazz and studio guitar player and composer. He has worked with many of the world's leading jazz musicians, and has appeared on over 200 movie soundtracks, including "Lord of the Rings", "Shakespeare in Love" and "The Constant Gardener". He has also played on albums for KT Tunstall, Annie Lennox and Westlife. He is also a prolific composer of jazz and of music for media.



  • Albert Mayer

    Albert is an old friend and colleague of Brian Dee. Their playing styles are very similar and they have collaborated on many projects over the years. Interestingly they have never performed together live.



  • Andrew McCormack

    Pianist/Composer Andrew McCormack started his career playing on Denys Baptiste's debut album "Be Where You Are", which won Album of the Year in the 1999 Mercury Music Prize and the MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Award for Best Jazz Act 1999. In 2002 Andrew was a semi-finalist in the prestigious Martial Solal International Piano Competition held in Paris. Andrew has performed with many distinguished jazz musicians, including Randy Brecker, Courtney Pine, Juliet Roberts, and Jean Toussaint. Recent composition work has taken him to LA to work with Clint Eastwood on his two latest award-winning movies "Flags Of Our Fathers" and "Letters From Iwo Jima".

  • Wayne Nunes

    Wayne was born in England but grew up in Guyana, South America where he started his musical career. He returned to the UK in 1983 working as a session musician and composer / producer. He has toured, recorded, produced and written with Tricky and Billy Ocean. He was co-musical director of the stage play "The Harder They Come". His film credits include a co-write on "Bad Company", as well as playing on the soundtrack. Also as the bass player on "Wild At Heart" and on several film scores for the composer Chris White. He is also co-producing / co-writing his own second album called "Warrior Charge" and producing / composing a new record for American singer songwriter Jebloy Nichols.



  • Andy Pask

    Andy studied cello and double bass at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and went on to chart success with the song "Einstein a go-go" as a founder member of the group Landscape. Feature film work includes: Nine, The Mummy 3, Twilight, The Guru, Calender Girls, Gosford Park, Little Shop of Horrors and The Full Monty. Album credits include: Freddie Mercury, Sharleen Spiteri, Madonna, The Pet Shop Boys, Shirley Bassey, Gloria Gaynor, Cliff Richard, Tom Jones, Steve Marriot, Ronan Keating, Nana Mouskouri, Debbie Harry, Michael Ball, Elaine Paige, and many albums as a rhythm section member for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Andy has toured extensively with many of the above artists. Resident theatre work includes, Tonight's the Night, Far Pavilions, Evita and Joseph and his Amazing Technicoloured Dream Coat. Andy has written many works, including the theme to the long running police series, 'The Bill'.

    Sound Design specialist Luke first began composing during his degree in Music Production at Brighton University, where he graduated with first class Honours in 2005. His primary focus throughout the degree was on sound design and production music, and over the 3 years he produced a collection of predominantly instrumental music. Luke's first published work coincided with the completion of the BA Degree, and he began to focus entirely on developing an acoustic catalogue. Hector is the co-founder of Libelula, an up and coming electro pop duo, and has been drummer and songwriter for bands such as Redstar, Manyas, Afrolicious and Aura. He has collaborated with classical composers Pablo Garcia and Felipe Perez-Santiago, and worked as a session musician for artists like Stephanie Salas, Zü, and Hed Kandi.     Ioannis is a performer, composer and producer.     Rik began his career at the legendary Olympic Studios in London, and has been a producer and engineer for over 30 years.     Chris White has composed the scores for feature films, television series, animations and documentaries. Films include "Milkteeth" winner of best film at Annecy International Animated Film Festival, "Ela" short-listed for an Oscar in 2008 and "The Solitary Life of Cranes" winner of best documentary at Britdoc 2008. In 2009, he composed the score for "One Hundred Mornings" for director Connor Horgan. Chris has also worked with renowned Norwegian artist Anne Katrine Dolven on her art installation "Ahead", and arranged and conducted strings on Billy Ocean's comeback album "Because I Love You". His awards include Young Jazz Musician of the Year, The Andrew Milne Award for Jazz, and Jazz Album of the Year. He also won the Peter Whittingham Award with Colin Riley to record Tides with the Homemade Orchestra, who have toured extensively and released a second album, Inside Covers.
